St. Luke’s Penn Foundation’s Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program provides psychiatric support for youth ages 12-18 who are experiencing depression, anxiety, or other mental health challenges that are significantly affecting their personal, academic, and emotional well-being. These youth do not require inpatient hospitalization but need more than traditional counseling.
It is a structured program that runs daily, Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. The average length of treatment is 10 days.
Teens have a dedicated treatment team comprised of a psychiatrist, certified occupational therapy assistant, art therapist, music therapist, and master’s level therapists. Group, individual case management, and family groups are led by the team members. The treatment team will work with the teen to:
- Develop a safety plan
- Provide medication assessment and management
- Coordinate care with other providers
- Plan for discharge, including referral to mental health follow-up
- Communicate with school guidance counselors
