Men's Trauma Treatment

Jonathan Labman, LPC, Facilitator
In this series of educational and group therapy sessions, we will explore how to move away from the role of victim and to survive and thrive as men after experiencing personal trauma. Our focus will be finding the calm and still “center” of our attention or awareness and learning to return to it when we experience the difficult symptoms of trauma such as flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive thoughts and memories and physical pain coming from muscle tension. Participants will learn some of the typical responses men have to trauma, how to question the truthfulness of our their catastrophic thoughts, learn to use breath to calm their bodies and minds down, and learn that discomfort and comfort exist simultaneously all the time (even when we’re also experiencing pain and difficulty). These new skills will help men with trauma learn to return from the storm of trauma to the calm center of their own clear awareness.
