St. Luke’s Penn Foundation Names New Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Educator

Rev. CB Stewart, M.Div., ACPE Certified Educator Candidate, has been named Educator for the ACPE, Inc. Accredited Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program at St. Luke’s Penn Foundation and St. Luke’s Bethlehem. Applications are now being accepted for individuals interested in enrolling in the summer (May 23 through August 2, 2022) and extended units (October 17, 2022 through April 28, 2023).

CPE is a program for seminarians, clergy, and laity who are committed to developing their pastoral identity by integrating clinical spiritual practice with personal and interpersonal learning. It combines professional education and hands-on experience in providing spiritual care and emotional support to patients, families, and others in a multi-faith clinical setting.

“It is an amazing gift to come to St. Luke’s Penn Foundation and to continue the well-respected, robust CPE program that it has cultivated,” says Stewart. “I am excited to be part of the St. Luke’s Penn Foundation community, a community that encourages creative thinking and promotes an environment of holistic healing and humanizing care while also providing CPE students with the unique opportunity to participate in a program where all clinical placements incorporate a behavioral healthcare perspective.”

Prior to joining St. Luke’s Penn Foundation, Stewart served as a chaplain and CPE education resident and fellow at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City for six years. Stewart earned a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in 2013 and an undergraduate degree in History and Religion from American University in Washington D.C. Stewart was ordained to Word and Sacrament in the United Church of Christ in 2015 and is Board-certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains. Additionally, Stewart is currently a student at Union Theological Seminary in New York City and will earn a Master of Sacred Theology degree and ACPE Educator certification in May 2022. Stewart resides in Philadelphia.
