The Univest Grand Prix, held on Saturday, September 17 in Souderton, Montgomery County, is a great opportunity for a group volunteer experience. And this year, volunteers will receive appreciation gifts including a Univest Grand Prix 2011 Commemorative Print, a UGP 2011 t-shirt and a Penn Foundation water bottle. As in the past, volunteers will get a complimentary box lunch, prepared by Landis Supermarket.

Penn Foundation is currently recruiting volunteers to serve as Course Marshals or Course Marshal Captains. Assignments at many locations require just a few minutes of your time, yet they are crucial to assuring rider and motorist safety. Course Marshals serve as aids to the Police and Fire Police in controlling the racecourse at specific intersections. Captains are course marshals responsible for 8-10 intersections and marshals on race day who ensure appropriate communication and coordination between marshals and race officials. Race timetables, safety vests, event t-shirts and whistles will be provided to Course Marshals for intersection traffic control. All volunteers must be 18 years or older or have signed parental permission.

For the Cyclosportif, Course Marshals will be positioned throughout the course which will go through the Montgomery County countryside from 7:00 am – 11:00 am. For the Pro Race, Course Marshals will be positioned at locations in Souderton beginning at 11:00 am.

Other volunteer opportunities are also available for Race Day.
