Psychiatrist Cheryl Booker-Carter, MD, Joins Penn Foundation Staff

CDr._Booker-Carter_webheryl Booker-Carter, MD, has joined the staff of Penn Foundation as a Psychiatrist with the Mental Health Outpatient Program. She will provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management for adults receiving mental health outpatient services both onsite at Penn Foundation and in area continuing care retirement communities. As part of an interdisciplinary treatment team, she will also provide psychiatric consultation to agency clinicians.

Dr. Booker-Carter has over 25 years of experience working in various hospital, academic, nursing home, and other healthcare settings. Most recently, she worked as an Adult Psychiatrist at Southampton Psychiatric Associates for over 10 years. Earlier in her career, she worked as an Adult Psychiatrist at Penn Foundation and Abington Memorial Hospital; Director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Partial Hospital at Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (Willow Grove, PA); Director of the Geriatric Unit at Albert Einstein Medical Center; and a Clinical Instructor of
Psychiatry at Temple University Medical School.

A Philadelphia native, Dr. Booker-Carter earned her medical degree from Temple University Medical School and completed her psychiatric residency at Cooper University Hospital. She is a member of the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, and Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society.
