Penn Foundation to Recognize Long-Time Psychiatrist, Vernon Kratz, MD, with Inaugural Penn Foundation Service Award

Vernon Kratz webPenn Foundation will recognize psychiatrist Vernon Kratz, MD with its inaugural Penn Foundation Service Award. Dr. Kratz will be honored at Penn Foundation’s Autumn Event fundraiser on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 7:30 pm at Calvary Church (820 Route 113, Souderton).

The Penn Foundation Service Award recognizes a Penn Foundation staff member for contributions made over a career at Penn Foundation, dedication to its mission, willingness to ‘lead with a servant’s heart,’ and demonstrated impact on the lives of those Penn Foundation serves.

Dr. Kratz began his employment at Penn Foundation in 1973 as a staff psychiatrist and has been deeply rooted in Penn Foundation’s mission ever since. In 1980, he was named Medical Director, and from 1988-2000, he combined his role as Medical Director with the role of President/CEO. Today, Dr. Kratz serves as a senior staff psychiatrist. He continues to lead by example and to inspire those around him with his positive approach to life and his compassion for those that Penn Foundation serves. Dr. Kratz serves on Penn Foundation’s Board of Directors and on the Advisory Boards of Penn Gardens and Wellspring Clubhouse. Hereafter, the award will be named the Vernon H. Kratz, MD, Penn Foundation Service Award.

Penn Foundation’s annual Autumn Event will feature an evening of conversation and song with legendary singer and author Judy Collins, and Sanford A. Alderfer, Founder of Sanford Alderfer Companies, will receive the Adventures in Excellence Award. 6abc Action News AnchorEva Pilgrim will serve as the evening’s emcee. Autumn Event has become Penn Foundation's signature fundraiser and one the community highly anticipates year after year. Last year, more than 700 people attended Autumn Event and even more are expected this year. Proceeds from this event benefit Penn Foundation’s Commonwealth Fund, which helps the organization provide compassionate, responsive, and innovative care to over 10,000 individuals each year.
