Penn Foundation Partners with Indian Valley Library for 6th Annual Recovery Art Show

Penn Foundation has partnered with the Indian Valley Library for its 6th Annual Recovery Art and Poetry Show and Sale. For the entire month of May, the Indian Valley Library will display artwork and poetry created by individuals from Bucks and Montgomery Counties who are recovering from mental illness or addictions. All artwork will be displayed in the non-fiction area.

On Friday, June 7th, from 6 – 9 pm, there will be a reception featuring a meet-and-greet with the artists and poetry readings from this year’s submissions.

“The Recovery Art and Poetry Show offers a wonderful opportunity to change people’s perceptions of mental illness and addiction, “ says Lisa Dembrosky, Art Show Coordinator and Operations Coordinator for Penn Foundation’s Wellspring Clubhouse. “It is a chance for the community to see that individuals in recovery are so much more than their illnesses; they are artists, creators, even visionaries.”

“The Indian Valley Library is happy to work with Penn Foundation in presenting this art show,” says Linda Beck, Library Director. “With 700-900 people coming into the library every day, having an art show from Penn Foundation is a great way to let our community see what ‘recovery in art is all about. The community is very supportive of Penn Foundation, and I’m sure interest in this special program will be high.”

Artwork and poetry can be viewed during regular library hours. Visit www.ivpl.org for hours and directions. For more information about the show and sale, contact Lisa Dembrosky at 215.257.4760 or ldembrosky@pennfoundation.org.
