Director of Crisis Services

Position Overview

The Director of Crisis Services is responsible for the overall management of Crisis Services, including the maintenance of adequate staffing for this 24/7 service, the supervision of employees working in Crisis Services, quality improvement, and the coordination of services with Grand View Health personnel. The employee is also responsible for providing crisis assessments; treatment recommendations; information and referral for follow-up treatment; and assistance in connecting individuals and families to recommended treatment.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain adequate staffing for 24/7 Crisis Services. Recruit, hire and orient all new employees.
  • Compile monthly Crisis Services statistics for Bucks County MH/MR and Penn Foundation.
  • Complete quarterly quality improvement monitor for Completeness of Assessments.
  • Coordinate crisis assessments with Department of Emergency Medicine personnel at Grand View Health and Penn Foundation psychiatrists.
  • Develop Crisis Services budget in cooperation and consultation with the Chief Financial Officer. Monitor monthly budget reports to assure that revenue and expenses are within budgetary expectations.
  • Complete assessments of individuals presenting in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Grand View health with mental, co-occurring or substance abuse disorders.
  • Engage family and significant others in crisis assessments when available and provide information about findings with treatment recommendations.
  • Establish treatment recommendations and refer to appropriate levels of care. Complete prior-authorizations for individuals requiring inpatient treatment; locate a hospital bed; and arrange transportation as needed.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with referral sources including county agencies, insurance companies and psychiatric hospitals.


  1. Master’s degree in the human service related field; license preferred
  2. Previous supervisory experience
