SUMMARY:The Impact of Social Media on Mental Health
DESCRIPTION:We live in the age of mass-multimedia. Research on media use estimates that Americans\, on average\, spend between 10 and 12 hours a day exposed to some form of media—which isn’t unbelievable when you think about it. Many of us listen to the radio when we drive. We listen to music when we exercise\, and we watch television  while we relax at home. Whether we realize it or not\, we are surrounded by the images and sounds of media most of our waking hours. So consider this: it’s no longer a question of whether or not social media impacts our lives\, it is a question of how social media impacts our lives. Join us as we explore the impact of social media on mental health. \nThere is no cost\, but we ask that your RSVP below. \nQuestions? Contact Deb Ryan\, Director of Community Outreach\, at dryan@pennfoundation.org. \nPresenter\nJames Mast\, LPC\nJames Mast is a Licensed Professional Counselor at Penn Foundation. His clinical work focuses on helping individuals\, couples\, and families understand and cope with a variety of mental health issues. He specializes in supporting children who are high-risk for hospitalization due to the severity of their behaviors. James completed his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology\, with a concentration in Trauma Studies\, at Eastern University. \n  \n
