SUMMARY:Embracing the Spiritual Discipline of Solitude to Enhance Your Ministry
DESCRIPTION:The past few years have been hard. As servant leaders connected to various ministries\, our personal and professional lives have been turned upside down. We’ve all been working overtime and in innovative ways to care for those we serve. As we begin to emerge from more than two years of varying levels of isolation\, it’s time to pause\, reset\, and reconnect! As we move forward\, let’s not leave the spiritual discipline of solitude behind\, but rather\, let’s learn how to embrace spiritual introspection as a way to grow a deeper spiritual community. \nHave you ever considered the benefits of a workout for your faith? Deepening our connection with our faith requires a plan\, the right mindset\, and practice – just like exercise. Whether our spiritual practice and routines involve a walk\, meditation\, or prayer\, mindfulness techniques can be applied to help us grow in our ability to be more present with God and others. \n\nTake Home Tool Box for Your Ministry Education and Outreach \n\nPractical examples/exercises – including mindfulness resources and techniques – to help your faith community find meaningful solitude\, inner peace\, and community connection\nMental health practices to help regulate emotions and decrease stress\, anxiety\, and depression\nEducational resources identifying the medical & scientific connections to the mind/body/spirit\n\nKeynote Speakers \nPadma Fanning is the Clinical Mindfulness Instructor for St Luke’s University Health Network. She has studied and practiced mindfulness and meditation for 37 years. She is a certified Breathworks Mindfulness-Based Pain Management instructor and a qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction instructor.   \n\nLu Mauro\, M.Ed.\, CPRP\, is a Professional Development Specialist at St. Luke’s Penn Foundation and the former director of SLPF’s Wellspring Clubhouse. SUMMARY:Grief is a Dancer
DESCRIPTION:Grief is a Dancer\nPresented in word\, music\, and dance by\nGregg and Susan Hurley of HurleyInMotion and author Alisa Bair   \nJoin us for a community-wide event that brings us together to acknowledge\nthe pain and loss we’re all experiencing through this difficult time. \n\nAfter the loss of her 8-year-old daughter to brain cancer in 1993\, Alisa Bair turned to writing as she grieved. She published two books: “A Table for Two” in 1998 and “Grief is A Dancer” in 2021. These books document her experiences with grief and propose that grief is an intuitive\, loving\, life-long partner in sorrow\, not something to “get over.” \nFor 15 years\, Bair has collaborated with HurleyInMotion on grief events to deliver a program that helps people grieve through word\, music\, and dance. HurleyinMotion is a performing arts ensemble that has been building bridges and connecting communities since 2005. Choreographer Gregg Hurley is an Associate Professor of Dance at Messiah University and performs alongside his wife\, Susan\, an Adjunct Professor of Voice at Messiah University. \n \nClick here for a video about the Grief is a Dancer program. \n\nAdditional Event Details \nEach attendee will receive a complimentary copy of Bair’s book “Grief is a Dancer.” There will be a book signing following the one-hour program. \nTo ensure the health and safety of all attendees\, advanced registration is required. Please reserve your seat by December 1st by clicking the “Going” button below. We’re taking the following COVID safety steps: \n\nAll attendees are required to wear a mask.\nAttendees will be seated according to social distancing guidelines and based on individual/group registration.\nAttendance will be limited to 50% of venue capacity.\n\nThis event is generously made possible by:   \n

SUMMARY:The Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Children and Teens
DESCRIPTION:The Pennridge Community Partnership\, a partnership between the Pennridge School District\, Grand View Health\, and St. Luke’s Penn Foundation\, is kicking off a new educational series to address a variety of topics impacting adolescents and teens. \nThe first of three presentations\, The Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Children and Teens\, will feature the expertise of Amie Allanson-Dundon\, MS\, LPC\, CFAS\, CCTP\, CCDPD\, CAADC\, Network Director of Clinical Therapy Services for Psychiatry at St Luke’s University Health Network\, and Jason R. Frei\, LCSW\, MPA\, School-Based Clinical Coordinator\, psychotherapist\, and founder of YESS! Program (Your Emotional Strength Supported!) at St. Luke’s University Health Network. \n“Our children are our greatest resource\,” says Allanson-Dundon. “The COVID-19 pandemic has sparked a mental health epidemic of proportions unlike anything we have ever seen. Parents\, teachers\, school administrators\, nurses\, coaches\, and ancillary staff need to know signs of depression\, anxiety\, and other related behavioral and emotional conditions in order to quickly identify students at risk.  Suicide\, substance use\, and self-harm are on the rise nationally for school-aged children. This webinar will address these daunting concerns and how to help our young people work through difficult emotions.”
