Continuing Education

Education and training are at the heart of our Pastoral Services Department. We coordinate a number of pastoral education, training, supervision, and coaching programs throughout the year. They include:

Basic Pastoral Skills Course

This course is for church workers who volunteer as pastoral visitors or Eucharistic ministers at local hospitals, retirement communities, hospice programs, or in the home. This course is conducted every March, covering such topics as pastoral conversation, diagnosis and planning, grief and loss, prayer, and self-care. The annual registration fee is $25.00.

Advanced Pastoral Skills Workshop

This workshop is for church workers who graduated from the basic pastoral skills course. This workshop is conducted every fall, covering such topics as crisis ministry and sudden traumatic loss. There is no fee.

Peer Review for Local Pastors

This "closed group" is an opportunity for local clergy to present and receive feedback on difficult pastoral situations in an atmosphere that is both collegial and confidential. The registration fee is $100.00.

Pastoral Theology Presentations

These presentations vary in content and style but are designed to meet the needs of congregations who desire input from behavioral healthcare professionals and pastoral educators.

Full Circle

Full Circle is a quarterly newsletter containing information and articles pertinent to the pastoral care.
