Penn Foundation Provides Autism Assessments

Today, 1 in 150 individuals are diagnosed with Autism. Recognizing the symptoms and accessing early intervention services are key
factors in maximizing the progress children can make with behavioral therapies. In partnership with the Bucks County Department of
Behavioral Health and Magellan Health, Penn Foundation is one of only three sites participating in a pilot program to provide
Comprehensive Autism Assessments.

These assessments, which examine developmental levels, relationship challenges, and sensory challenges, are conducted over multiple
sessions. They are very important, not just for diagnosis, but also for making initial recommendations for treatment options and available
services. Because early intervention is critical, this assessment tool is invaluable in helping families develop an appropriate plan of action.

Penn Foundation Experiences Rapid Growth

During the most recent fiscal year, July 2006-June 2007, Penn Foundation served 9,400 children, adolescents, adults, and seniors,
a 6.4% increase from the previous year.

The 6.4% growth is mainly the result of two factors. With the population of this region expanding, it is only natural that the demand for
behavioral health services is also increasing. Additionally, mental health and chemical dependency are receiving more media attention
today than ever before, slowly helping to break down the stigma attached to these issues and motivating those who struggle with them
to seek help.
