After serving Penn Foundation as President and Chief Executive Officer for 10 years, John Goshow has announced his retirement.John joined the organization in 1977 as a Clinical Social Worker and in 1979 was named Partial Hospital Director. He assumed the role of Vice President and Chief
Operating Officer in 1989, serving in this capacity until his appointment as President and CEO in 2000.
The Penn Foundation Board of Directors deeply appreciates John's unique vision, servant leadership, passion for the organization's mission, and dedication to the community. "John's has a special ability to keep current with changes in behavioral healthcare and with
the needs of the community," says Tom Leidy, Chair, Penn Foundation Board of Directors. "Under John's leadership, he grew a staff of over 300 individuals dedicated to the organization's mission. He oversaw the implementation of distinct new programs and the pioneering of innovative approaches to care. John is
a sensitive yet decisive leader. He is a man of integrity who always leads by example."
John plans to continue as President and CEO until September 1, 2010. To support the search for John's replacement, Penn Foundation's Board has retained the services of Mennonite Health Services Alliance (Goshen, Indiana), a 70-member nationwide network of Mennonite healthcare organizations. Kirk Stiffney, the MHS search consultant, will visit Penn Foundation early in the year to meet with the search committee. If a new CEO has not been selected by September 1st, John has graciously agreed to remain in his role until one has been found or until June 30, 2011.
